No one could have predicted this, but the 19 year old Romanian, Sorana Cirstea, defeated the world's number 5, Jelena Jankovic, in a dramatic match, arguably the most beautiful one in this year's women's competition.
Sorana, who is currently ranked 41, came from being one set down and won in an impressive fashion. She won the 2nd set with an impressive 6-0, and then she went on to win the decisive 9-7, after Jelena Jankovic led 5-4 and 30-0 on her own serve.
The Romanian won at her 3rd match point and if she continues to play like this, she will be a force to be reckoned. Sorana will play against the winner from the game between Samantha Stosur and Virginie Razzano in the quarter finals.
